Sorry for not blogging for so long! There wasn’t really anything interesting up til’ now, so. Forgive me! But I guess I’ll blog more often in future; my posts don’t really have to be about something really interesting, right? I could, like, post about my breakfast or something! XD (Like today my breakfast was bacon and eggs and toast and hashbrowns! And yes I cooked it myself so it was _extra_ yummie~!)
Well moving back on track to the interesting stuff, ya? Saturday was a funnfunn day! What happened was this ushering thingie for IRS Day in the morning, followed by balloon sculpturing in the afternoon~! And yes it makes me happy when I get to help out. =P

The day before IRS Day we had a briefing for us ushers at Teachers’ Network. We were briefed on our spots and duties, and were later given a tour around the campus! Yeah so now we know all the toilets around there. XD Well anyways, my spot was at the backgate/track along with ZQ and Daniel. We were initially fine with that spot, until the next day when we found out that…
The backgate closes on weekends! So we were essentially stoning there doing nothing~! No one came in from the backgate, which meant no one to usher. > . > However, soon there were cars driving down our way to park in the field, cos’ the visitors’ carpark was filled!
So yeah, we were back in business! =D We got the cars to stop, and then told them to drive into the field and park along the track. After that we ushered them from their cars to wherever they wanted to go!
All of that was fun, of course. But what made me even happier was when the visitors left and drove their cars out! Why? Cos’ they waved goodbye and were appreciative! Yeah so we all waved back and each one made my day. =)

After the ushering thing all of us went for lunch at Burger King Wheelock. Over there were these Thai travellers and they needed help with getting to Sims Drive. So me and Gideon helped them get there by using my street directory and drew a map out for them! =D Then after that Gideon asked them why they needed to get there, and they said they needed to buy drumsticks. (Not the food, the instrument! XD Yeah initially I thought I had only been spending time trying to help them get there just so that they could buy chicken… XD)
So anyway yeah that was another good deed done. =D Go me!

Lastly, was helping my aunt out at Touch Childcare Services in Clementi! My aunt works in Touch Community Services, so she asked me to go down to do balloon sculpturing to raise funds!
Yes, I know balloon sculpturing. =P I don’t know why I never really told anyone about this talent of mine, but, well. Now you know. =P
So yeah, there I was twisting and twisting balloons frantically for the little kiddies – Dogs and flowers and swords and mice and the like. But the more popular ones were the swords for the boys and the flowers for the girl, so typical. Stereotypical.
Yeah the whole thing was fun, but I learnt many new things not to do when I’m doing something like this again. (Besides, I’ve got one more round to go this coming Saturday, too. Next time, it’ll be at Hougang. You can drop by to help if you want! ;))
#1: Prepare a few of _every_ colour before the whole thing starts. This way, you can get a headstart before you get swarmed by picky kids who want a certain so-and-so colour. > . <
#2: Be prepared for kids who wail because their balloons burst, and make sure you know how to make a new one pronto.
#3: Be prepared for special cases, such as when the kid wants a snake/caterpillar/worm/sausage/noodle strand. I.e. A balloon without any twisting. I guess that’s sort of a good thing, though.
#4: Be prepared for kids who want a _rainbow_ coloured balloon. Learn how to tell them nicely that they have to pick only one colour.
#5: Do not leave any balloon sculpting manuals on the table, especially ‘Advanced’ ones. This prevents the kids from flipping though the book and telling you they want a _teddy bear on a bicycle_.
Oh and one last thing, at the end of it all, I was given a trophy for my efforts! (Actually it was just a leftover trophy from the Amazing Race activity they had as part of the event, but still…!)
Here's a picture of a balloon doggie I made! Actually I'm just trying this whole picture thing out, so.

I guess that pretty much sums my Saturday up, and yes it was a fun day. Plus I got to help out with stuff, all that ushering and balloon sculpturing, so there’s that warm fuzzy feeling in my heart, ya? =D
